Look Fantastic May Box: The Botanical Edition!

It's time for another monthly box review! This time I'm going to be sharing what's inside the May Look Fantastic box and also letting you know my first impressions on a few of the products inside too. This month's box is The Botanical Edition, focusing on the power of plants and is full of gentle, effective products that are free from toxins!

About Look Fantastic Boxes

The Look Fantastic Beauty Box is a monthly subscription service and each box is filled with 6 beauty products worth atleast £50. So with this box you are guaranteed to receive atleast triple in value of products each month compared to the actual box price, which I think is pretty amazing right? (This month's is worth over £142!) The boxes are priced between £13 to £15 depending on the length of subscription you buy from them, with free delivery included in that price too!

Look Fantastic Beauty Box

Dr Lipp Sweet Potato Lip Tint

First up in the box this month we're getting a moisturising lip tint in 'Sweet Potato' from the brand Dr Lipp, who are a completely new brand to me. That's one thing I love about Look Fantastic boxes, it's such a great way to discover lots of new brands in one place and for a fraction of the price!

The balm is made with just 4 natural ingredients, including Lanolin for the moisturising properties and Sweet Potatoes for the tint of colour, pretty cool right? I've been using it almost everyday since the box arrived and it's so perfect for those no makeup days when you still want a sheer pop of colour on the lips, it adds the loveliest shine too! Lip care wise it feels really comfortable and hydrating, the formula really reminds me of the Laneige lip sleeping masks so you can imagine just how nice it feels!

Would I repurchase?

Yes! I've been loving this for the daytime at home and can't fault the formula. It would be perfect to take away on a summer holiday aboard too!

Balance Me Hyaluronic Plumping Mist

Next up in the box we're getting a skincare item, the Balance Me Hyaluronic Plumping Mist! This is their award-winning, skin quenching, brightening and ultra hydrating mist that aims to instantly rejuvenate dry skin. It's designed to replace a toner in your skincare routine, fix makeup in place and refresh your face throughout the day, so there are lots of different ways to use it!

Ingredient List

Aqua (Water), Glycerin (Vegetable), Polyglyceryl-4 Caprylate, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Anthemis Nobilis (Roman Chamomile) Flower Oil¹, Ananas Sativus (Pineapple) Fruit Extract, Rosa Centifolia (Rose Absolute) Flower Oil¹, Citrus Aurantium (Neroli) Flower Oil¹, Nardostachys Jatamansi (Spikenard) Root Oil¹, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil¹, Pelargonium Graveolens (Rose Geranium) Flower Oil¹, Achillea Millefolium (Yarrow) Leaf Oil¹, Citric Acid, Sodium Hydroxide, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Dehydroacetic Acid, Potassium Sorbate, Benzyl Alcohol, Limonene², Linalool², Geraniol², Citronellol², Citral², Farnesol². (¹) natural pure essential oil, (²) naturally occurring in essential oils, (³) certified organic ingredient.

I've been using this for just over a week now and absolutely love it on first impressions, it really does add an instant boost of hydration to the skin and leaves it looking so fresh and glowy. Perfect for popping in your bag for on-the-go, to keep your skin topped up with hydration throughout the day and makeup looking fresh!

Would I repurchase?

Definitely, I think I've discovered a new handbag and summer holiday essential!

Korres Hydra-Biome Prebiotic Superdose Face Mask

Another skincare item in the box this month is the Korres Hydra-Biome Prebiotic Superdose Face Mask which I was very happy to see inside as I love a good face mask! This one's suitable for all skin types but is especially great for sensitive skin as it aims to soothe and cool the skin aswell as add hydration!

I've really enjoyed trying this one, it has a lovely light whipped like texture and instantly feels really cooling on the skin when applied. I had a breakout on my chin earlier last week and this felt so soothing on it and also helped to calm down the redness which I didn't expect! So if you suffer from redness or sore breakouts then I think this would definitely be a great one to try, I bet it would be amazing to use on holiday in the evening after a day in the sunshine too. It also adds a nice subtle glow to the skin, not anything dramatic just a nice glow from within look which I really like! I managed to get 3 uses out of the 20ml which I think is pretty decent for a sample, especially considering that the full sized product is pretty pricey. An amazing little edition to this month's edit!

Would I repurchase?

The full size is a little bit to pricey for me right now but if it's ever on offer, I'd definitely be snapping one up for the summer months!

Product Value: £9.40 (20ml)

Eyeko Mini Eyebrow Gel

Next up in the box we're getting a Mini Eyebrow Gel from the band Eyeko, who are a brand I already know and love! The gel aims to tame unruly brows and provide long-lasting hold without any flakiness or stiffness. It's infused with lots of beneficial ingredients including Keratin and Gingko Bilabo to help condition and thicken the brow hairs too! I haven't given it a try just yet as I've barely been touching makeup since lockdown but I'm very intrigued to now, it sounds perfect for defining the brows but still keeping them looking natural!

Product Value: £10

Avant Ultimate Hyaluronic Acid Resurfacing Duo Moisturiser

Next up is the product you've probably all been waiting for, the £100 moisturiser from Avant! Yes you heard that right, there's a £100 moisturiser in every box this month.. how incredible is that? Just when I thought the value for money with the Look Fantastic boxes couldn't get any better! The moisturiser aims to brighten and smoothen skin and is formulated with Hyaluronic Acid, Shea Butter and Sweet Almond Oils to tighten and firm for a more youthful collection.

Ingredient List

Aqua (Water), Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Glycerin, Cetyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate, Dicaprylyl Ether, Propylheptyl Caprylate, Dimethicone, Sodium Hyaluronate, Niacinamide, Maris Aqua (Sea Water), Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Allantoin, Tocopheryl Acetate, Peg-75 Stearate, Ceteth- 20, Steareth-20, Propylene Glycol, Disodium EDTA, Sodium Polyacrylate, Xanthan Gum, Lactic Acid, Parfum (Fragrance), Potassium Sorbate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Sodium Hyaluronate, CI 15985 (FD&Amp;C Yellow No. 6), CI 17200 (D&Amp;C Red No.33).

I've been using this morning and evening since the box arrived and I'm really enjoying it! I obviously can't give a full review after only around 10 days but it does hydrate the skin really well and leaves it looking so fresh and glowy! I can't say I've noticed a difference to the texture and brightness of my skin but it's probably too soon the tell anyway, I'll make sure to update this post if I do see any though.

Would I repurchase?

As much as I did really enjoy using the product, there's no way I could ever justify spending £100 on a moisturiser when there are more affordable options out there that can give me very similar results!

Product Value: £100

Magn!tone Eco Friendly Microfibre Cleansing Cloth

Lastly in the box this month we're getting one of the Magn!tone London Eco Friendly Microfibre Cleansing Cloths which I was very happy to see inside as I use their original pink one all the time! They by far the softest cleansing cloths I've ever found and feel so lovely and gentle on the skin, whilst removing makeup effortlessly. You can use this with just water and it does the job fine, I just prefer to use it alongside a cleanser!

When you're ready to clean the cloth you just pop it in the washing machine at 30° and you're ready to go again. They can be reused over thousands of times, making them sooo much better for the environment than cotton pads and wipes! I've had my set of pink ones for over a year now and they still feel just as soft, so they're definitely a great little investment to buy for your skincare routine, I haven't found anything that beats them yet!

Would I repurchase?

Yes, they're worth every penny!

Product value: £10

..and that's it! I hope you enjoyed hearing about what's inside the May Look Fantastic box and my first impressions on a few of the products. Once again I can't get over the value for money we're getting this month with all those Botanical Treats, including that £100 moisturiser! My favourite pick for this edit has to be the Balance Me mist though, I've definitely discovered a new favourite there and can't wait to continue using it!

Let me know in the comments if you've tried any products from this month's box before and your thoughts?

  1. The price of this box with the products individually is actually insane! I like the fact that you get to test the Avant moisturiser out as like you said there is no way I'm spending £100 on a moisturiser either!
