April Degusta Box: UK vs International

It's time for another Degusta Box review! This time I'm going to be sharing what's inside the April box, which has a theme of 'UK VS International'.  The box is packed with loads of tasty treats this month with everything from chocolate snacks to Kombucha, so I'm very excited to share what's inside and also let you know my thoughts on the products too!

About Degusta Boxes

Degusta Box are a monthly food and drink subscription service. Each box contains between 10-15 food and drink items which are guaranteed to exceed the value you've paid for the box, so you can always expect great value for money with this one. The boxes are currently priced at £12.99 per month, with free delivery included too. It's definitely a great subscription option for us foodies who love discovering new eats, I mean who doesn't want a mystery box full of food and drink turning up at their door every month? I know I definitely do!

Peppadew Piquanté Peppers

First up in the box this month we're getting a jar of Mild Chopped Sweet Piquanté Peppers from the brand Peppadew. These are completely new to me but are known for their unique layered flavour, which starts as sweet then turns mildly spicy!

We've absolutely loved trying them and have used them in so many different ways already: they're great in salads, sandwiches, wraps, burgers and are especially good on a pizza with a bit of chicken and rocket! They have such a tasty flavour and a lovely crunchy texture to them which compliments so many things. I'll definitely be buying another jar when this one runs out as it's been so handy to have in the fridge to finish of a meal or lunch!

My rating: 10/10
Price: £3

Remedy Kombucha

Next up we're getting 2 cans of Kombucha from the brand Remedy in two flavours: Raspberry Lemonade & Cherry Plum, which are both definitely my kind of flavours!

Remedy Kombucha is a soft drink with lots of health benefits and is made by naturally fermenting sweet tea with live culture, which creates a sparkling soft drink with a quite tart almost alcohol like flavour! I've really enjoyed giving it a try, both flavours were really refreshing and had a nice sparkle to them. The Kombucha flavour does overpower the fruit flavours quite a lot, making them more of a background taste but overall it is still really tasty. A great little addition to this month's box, they've been perfect to have in the garden in this warm weather!

My rating: 8/10
Price: £1.85 each
Stockists: M&S, Morrisons, Amazon, Holland & Barrett, Boots, Booths, WH Smith, Planet Organic and Whole Foods Market

Brynmor Flapjacks

Also in the box, we're getting two Brynmor Flapjack bars in the flavours Caramel Fudge and Apple & Raspberry. The flapjacks are lovingly baked in the heart of Welsh countryside, so I was very excited to try the brand as a fellow Welsh girl!

They didn't disappoint and were actually my favourite items from this month's box! The flapjacks are absolutely spot on so I can definitely see how the company have been running for over 25 years now. They're so soft and crumbly, packed with that delicious golden taste! I especially liked the Caramel Fudge bar which had a really nice creamy fudge flavour and was filled with top quality fudge chunks and then topped with a layer of caramel topping too.. aka my idea of heaven as a caramel lover!

I'll definitely be ordering from their website soon as they're honestly the best flapjacks I've ever tried, my family agreed with me too!

My rating: 10/10
Price: £1.29 each
Stockists: Ocado, Waitrose, NISA, WH Smith Travel, Grapetree, Independent Health Shops and at Brynmorfoods.com

Growers Garden Broccoli Crisps

Next up we're getting a huge bag of Sour Cream & Chive Broccoli Crisps from the brand Growers Garden, who are a company I already know and love! Their crisps are so delicious and are by far the best vegetable crisps I've tried. I've found a lot of other vegetable based crisps lack in flavour but these are packed full of it with that delicious sour cream and chive blend. They have a really nice crunchy texture to them too, basically everything you want in a good crisp!

My rating: 10/10
Price: £1.99
Stockists: Available in over 600 stores across the UK, you can find your nearest at growers-garden.com/stockists/

Tilda Peri Peri Rice

Also in the box we're getting a pack of Peri Peri Microwave Rice from the brand Tilda, who are a completely new brand to me. That's one thing I love about Degusta Boxes, it's such a great way to discover lots of new brands in one place! The rice has a combination of different flavours including green & red peppers, bird's eye chilli heat, sweet tomato, garlic, smoky paprika, oregano and a squeeze of zesty lemon.. creating such a tasty blend! It has a really nice heat to it too without being overly spicy, just the right balance.

I had mine alongside salmon and some olives and it made for a really delicious meal, so I'll definitely be picking up some more to have again soon. Perfect for a quick and easy dinner!

My rating: 9/10
Price: £1.59
Stockists: Available in all major supermarket chains

Next up we're getting a drink item in the box, a bottle of Cripps Pink Cider from the brand SXOLLIE, which is completely Vegan and Gluten free! I haven't tried this one yet but it sounds perfect for this sunny weather and is made with Pink Lady Apples, which are my favourite kind. The Apples are sourced directly from the Elgin Valley in South Africa where the apples are lovingly grown in the sunshine!

Price: £1.80
Stockists: Available at Sainsbury's, Waitrose and selected pubs and bars.

Percy's Caramel Chocolate Shortbread Sticks

Also in the box we're getting a box of Caramel Chocolate Shortbread Sticks from Percy's, aka my kind of treat! These didn't last long in our house at all and were absolutely delicious, they're so moreish too so once you have one you definitely can't resist going in for another. The shortbread is so crumbly and just melts in the mouth, complimenting the creamy smooth caramel chocolate perfectly!

My rating: 10/10
Price: £3
Stockists: Available at Sainsbury's, Ocado and Independent Stores

Terry's Chocolate Orange Mini's: Popping Candy

Next up we're getting two bags of Terry's Chocolate Orange Popping Candy Mini's, which are little segments of classic chocolate orange with the addition of exploding candy. I was a little worried that the candy was going to ruin the taste as I'm a huge fan of a classic Chocolate Orange but it actually made quite a nice addition and complimented the smooth chocolate well. I do still prefer the regular Chocolate Orange but it was a fun one to try!

My rating: 8/10
Stockists: Available as part of the Terry's Chocolate Orange Popping Candy Easter Egg Pack

Very Lazy Ginger & Lemongrass Pastes

Last up this month we're getting two pastes from the brand Very Lazy: Ginger & Lemongrass! We've had this brand in a few past Degusta Boxes now and I've always been really impressed so I'm very excited to give these two a try soon too! The pastes aim to give food maximum flavour with no fuss, whether that's a stir fry, marinade or even a smoothie. Just 1 teaspoon= half a stick of lemongrass or 1 thumb of ginger!

Price: £1.85 each
Stockists: Available at Tesco

..and that's it! I hope you enjoyed hearing about what's inside the April Degusta Box and my thoughts on a few of the products. My top pick for this month has to be those delicious flapjacks from Brynmor, I'm already craving another one!
