Pixi Glow Cake: A new beauty favourite?

Pixi have been releasing so many gorgeous new creations over the last few months, and today on the blog I'm going to be sharing my thoughts on one of their new Glow Cakes in the shade GildedBare Glow, which I think you're all going to love. So, let's get into the post!

 {This post contains PR samples}

The Packaging

First up lets talk about the packaging, because you'll all know I'm a sucker for some pretty packaging! It's a three in one product all combined into one compact palette meaning it's great for those of us that like travel friendly makeup and saving space. I love how the colours overflow into eachother, which is something we don't see very often! I also really like how the Pixi logo is embedded into the powder too, it's definitely very pretty on the eyes to look at, a very lovely touch! Quality wise it feels very sturdy and lightweight too, with the famous Pixi green palette casing. It is plastic so it's obviously not the most luxurious of packaging, but it's great how simple and compact it is!

The shades

The compact has three shades in one pan, which you can either use mixed together for a flush of glow or individually which is what I've been doing myself. It includes a light peach champagne highlight, a peachy blush and a bronze which all have the most gorgeous glow to them, in a natural and subtle way. My personal favourite is the blush which adds the most beautiful peachy glow to the cheeks, giving such a healthy natural finish to any makeup look! I think these would be especially great for someone with a light to medium skin tone as these are quite light, especially the highlight. They also have a gorgeous pink toned palette available too which I think would be best for darker skin!

Formula and Finish?

Formula wise these are a powder formula but  they still do have a lovely finish to them, and add such a healthy looking glow to the skin without feeling dry or cakey at all. Fall out wise I haven't found any of the shades to have any apart from a bit of kick back in the pan from the highlight shade, which I've found to be a little more powdery than the others as you'll be able to see in the swatches but blended into the skin it's just as beautiful as the other two colours.

Finish wise, you'll be able to see from the swatches above again that these are definitely more natural looking, so they're perfect if you're looking for a subtle flush of product compared to something more out there. The shades do have some glitter in the finish, but they're definitely not too intense at all and have more of a radiant and luminous finish, which I'm all about right now. This formula is definitely a dream for anyone with dry, dull skin!

As always Pixi add some amazing skincare ingredients into their makeup, and this time we have:

Ceramides - to help restore skin’s moisture barrier.

Peptides - to plump and firm.

Grape Seed Extract - to improves skin’s elasticity.

So, there's some amazing ingredients in this one to take care of our skin! Overall, I really do like the formula and finish of these shades. I always find Pixi face products apply so effortlessly to the skin, and these are definitely no different. I'm a big fan!

Are they longwearing?

Wear wise, these differ from colour to colour. The highlighter has been the least longwearing for me and tends to fade quite alot by the end of the day, with a good setting spray and primer though this does last a lot longer. The blush and bronzer really impressed me though and always last really well on my skin throughout the day. I have dry skin myself so I can't speak for anyone with oily skin but nonetheless on my own I'm pleasantly suprised considering how subtle these are, yay!

Worth the price?

The Pixi Glow cakes cost £24 at the moment, so they're definitely on the higher end side but I absolutely love how this compact combines the three shades into one, making it very travel friendly which is a big plus for me. Obviously, there are some great drugstore alternatives these days but I adore these shades and have been reaching for them so much, so in my opinion it's worth the price! It's also a huge compact and contains 24g of product, so I definitely won't be running out of this one any time soon, that's for sure!

..and that's it! I hope you enjoyed hearing my thoughts on the new Pixi glow cake, in GildedBare. I absolutely love this concept and really hope they bring out more in the future as I've been reaching for this one constantly over the past month or so!

Let me know if you've tried any of the new Pixi Glow Cakes yet, and your thoughts?
