New Praline Chocolate Bar face palette from I Heart Revolution

Today on the blog I'm going to be talking about a pretty new release from I Heart Revolution, their Praline Chocolate Bar face palette! If you've followed me for a while you'll know how much I love the Chocolate Bar palettes and think they're such great value for money, so I'm very excited to share my thoughts on one of the latest ones!

{This post contains pr samples and an affiliate link}

The packaging

Firstly let's talk about the packaging because as always I Heart Revolution have nailed it! It's in the exact same design as their many other Chocolate Bar palettes with the classic chocolate bar drip effect that we all know and love! This one's obviously Praline themed with a nude base and pale pink chocolate bar top which I think looks gorgeous, it's definitely my kind of packaging!

Inside the palette the shades are all layed out into one neat row with the shade names labelled underneath. I love that they've changed the palettes to this layout and ditched the compartment with the brush that they had in their older design as it's so much more practical this way! The palette also comes with a really big mirror making it perfect for on-the-go makeup and taking away on any holidays.

The shades

The palette includes a mix of five different shades including a bronzer, blush and three highlighters.. so you get a really good mix of face products included!

'Temper' - Matte bronzer/contour
• 'Ripple' - Baked pink blusher
• 'Bon Bon' - Cool toned rosegold shimmer highlighter with light golden, silver and pink glitters
• 'Praline' - Warm copper shimmer highlighter
• 'Fondant' - Icy white shimmer highlighter

My personal favourite has to be the 'Bon Bon' shade which is the most gorgeous rose gold highlighter with light golden, silver and pink glitters that look incredible when they hit the light. It's actually a little dark for me to wear as a highlighter at the moment but I've been using it on the eyes instead and it's perfect for adding a pop of shimmer to an eye look with those gorgeous glitters! Another favourite for me is 'Ripple' which is a very pretty soft pink baked blush that has a lovely subtle sheen to it! This one's definitely on the lighter side so it's a great option for anyone with pale skin like myself or for someone just looking for a less intense blush. It can also be built up too if you're looking for something more intense, it will just need some building up or a denser brush!

Overall I really like the mix of shades in the palette, my only complaint is that I would of loved to have seen a face powder included then it would really have all the powder face products you need but apart from that I'm really enjoying the combo included! I think it's a great palette for so many skin tones as the bronzer can be applied both lightly for paler skin and then also built up to that darker brown for deeper skin tones. I also love that there's a choice of three different highlighters in this one, meaning there's definitely something for everyone here with that icy white for paler skin and the warm copper shimmer for medium/deep skin tones.

The Formula

Now let's move on to the formula as this palette doesn't disappoint there either! I've found all 5 shades apply to the skin really well and blend out nice and smoothly. The bronzer can look a little muddy when first applied which I was worried about but once it's blended out with a brush it's absolutely fine and actually blends out really smoothly on the skin. The three shimmers are packed with pigment and are all super intense, you can definitely get that blinding highlight look easily with any of these three, especially the icy white shade which is so pigmented for such a light shade. As I mentioned before the blush is definitely more subtle but I prefer that in a blush anyway, it has a really nice baked formula that again applies to the skin so smoothly and is very easy to build up without looking cakey at all!

Are they long-lasting?

Wear time varies from shade to shade but I've found they are all pretty long-lasting especially considering it's such an affordable palette. The bronzer and blush both last all day easily which I'm so impressed with, especially considering the blush is alot more subtle! The highlighters last a little less longer and do fade slightly towards the end of the day after around 7/8 hours, they're still there just less intense compared to how blinding they are at the beginning of the day!

Worth the price?

The palette currently costs £9 which is the standard price for the Revolution Chocolate Bar palettes and is really affordable compared to alot of other brands on the market. You also get really big pans of product in this palette so I can tell this one's definitely going to last me a good while! So overall, I really do think it's worth the price and think you're getting such a bargain for all those gorgeous shades.

..and that's it! I hope you enjoyed hearing my thoughts on one of the newest Chocolate Bar palettes from Makeup Revolution. I've loved trying this one out over the past month or so and can definitely see myself reaching for it a lot in the future too!

Let me know in the comments what your favourite Chocolate Bar palette from Revolution has been so far?

  5. I own a few other Revolution products but I've never tried any of their chocolate Bar palettes, I'm starting to think I should! I thought they were a lot more expensive than £9, they certainly look like they would cost more and those shades are gorgeous. I think I'm going to have to add one of their chocolate palettes to my Christmas list!
