My favourites from the 2019 Epcot Food & Wine Festival

During my latest Disney trip lots of time was spent at Epcot tasting lots of delicious eats from the Food & Wine festival, I mean what gets better than enjoying a Disney park with the added bonus of a food festival? I was definitely in my element! After eating my way around lots of the different booths I thought I'd put a post together sharing my favourite picks from the festival this year.

What is the Epcot Food & Wine festival?

Epcot Food & Wine festival is an annual food and drink (not just wine!) festival held at Walt Disney Worlds Epcot Park. During the festival the park is filled with booths offering different eats from around the world with everything from Indian to Canadian! Admission to the festival is included in your park ticket but you do have to purchase the food and drink items separately, just like any other food in the theme park. So if you're heading to Walt Disney World in the next few months definitely check out the festival, it's such a great way to try out lots of different dishes in one place.. perfect if you're a big foodie like me!

2019 festival dates: 29th August - 23rd November

Braised Beef “Stroganoff”

My first favourite was the Braised Beef “Stroganoff” from The Cheese Studio booth which is a booth hosted by Boursin Cheese that was brought back to the festival for a second time this year. The beef is served with Tiny Egg Noodles, Wild Mushrooms and Boursin® Garlic and Fine Herbs Cheese Sauce.. and it is SO good! I thought the combination worked perfectly together and the rich beef and mushrooms complimented the creamy Boursin sauce really well, along with those tasty rice noodles which I can't imagine anyone not liking. The meat was so tender and cooked perfectly, there was even no need for a knife, it just flaked away! You also get a really good portion with this dish for a festival size, it's definitely one of the bigger ones I tried this year. Great for sharing.. or not if you love this one as much as me!

Pacifico True Striped Bass Tostada

Another eat I really enjoyed this year was the Pacifico True Striped Bass Tostada which is from the Coastal Eats both, aka the booth for any of us seafood lovers! The bass is served on a tostada with slaw and fire-roasted tomatillo Sauce and again I think they nailed the combo with this one really well! The soft bass complimented the crunchy tostada perfectly, along with that fresh slaw and tangy sauce which were both really tasty and complimented the fish well without overpowering it. It wasn't the flakiest fish I've ever eaten but it wasn't well done by any means either and was still soft, I kind of expected that though with how quickly they were turning out orders from that tiny booth! Overall I'd still recommend this one to any seafood lovers out there, I would definitely have it again if it comes back for future festivals.

Ravioli Carbonara

Next up is the Ravioli Carbonara from the Italy booth which is Parmesan and Pecerino ravioli with egg yolk, cream and bacon and the combination is just spot on. If you're a fan of a traditional Italian Carbonara then I think you'll definitely like this twist on the classic! I found the pasta was really well cooked and the filling was nice and smooth, packed with that tasty creamy cheese flavour.. making for the ultimate comfort food! I also loved the added bacon bits which really complimented the soft pasta perfectly. I mean bacon just makes everything better, doesn't it? This one definitely gets a big things up from me, you also get a really generous portion size too for a festival item and get five big pasta parcels!

Chicken Teriyaki Bun

Another item I really enjoyed this year was the Chicken Teriyaki Bun from the Japan booth. It's a steamed bun filled with chicken, vegetables and a sweet Teriyaki sauce. This was probably one of my favourites out of everything I tried as I'm a sucker for a good Japanese Teriyaki sauce and this one was spot on, so tasty and full of flavour. Inside you get a really decent amount of shredded chicken and vegetables along with the sauce, they definitely don't scrimp at all and the filling to bun ratio is spot on in my opinion. The bun was excellent too and was really soft and fluffy, so I have no complaints at all with this one and definitely recommend giving it a try if you're heading out to the festival yourself this year!

Butternut Squash Ravioli

Lastly but by no means least is the Butternut Squash Ravioli from the Wine and Dine Studio which is served with Brown Butter Vinaigrette, Parmesan Cheese and Pumpkin Seeds. It's the ultimate fall dish with the sweet butternut squash filling and the toasted pumpkin seeds, which both work so well with the sharp parmesan and zingy vinaigrette, creating a very tasty pasta dish.. it was definitely a big winner for me! My only complaint is that it is a smaller portion compared to the ravioli I mentioned earlier with just two pasta pieces, although this one is a little cheaper at $4.50.

..and that's it! I hope you enjoyed hearing about some of my favourites from this year's Epcot Food and Wine Festival, I loved discovering lots of new dishes this year especially the Teriyaki Chicken Bun and Butternut Squash Ravioli.. I'm getting hungry just thinking about them!

Let me know in the comments if you've been to the festival this year yet and what your favourite eats have been?
