August Degusta Box: Back to School & On-The-Go

It's time for another monthly box review! This time I'm going to be sharing my thoughts on the August Degusta box and talking through all of the items in the box with you. The August box has a 'Back To School & On-The-Go' theme and is available in both an alcohol and non-alcohol variation which both include lots of tasty products, so let's get into the review!

{ This post contains pr samples }

About Degusta Boxes

Degusta Box are a monthly food and drink subscription service. Each box contains between 10-15 food and drink items which are guaranteed to exceed the value you've paid for the box, so you can always expect great value for money with this one. The boxes are currently priced at £12.99 per month, with free delivery included too. It's definitely a great subscription option for us foodies who love discovering new eats, I mean who doesn't want a mystery box full of food and drink turning up at their door every month? I know I definitely do!

What's inside the box?

Attack a Snack Nachos

First up in the box we are getting a pack of Attack a Snack Nachos, which I was very happy to see as I'm a huge Nacho fan! The pack contains crunchy nacho chips, tangy salsa and creamy nacho cheese and the combination works so well together! I especially enjoyed the nacho cheese sauce which is the perfect addition to the kit, it's not as cheesy as I expected and has more of a subtle cheese flavour but with a really nice spice to it which goes together with the salty nachos perfectly. I'll definitely be picking up another kit in the future, it would make a great lunch option for on-the-go!

Retail Price: £1.50

Fruit Bowl Snacks

Next up in the box we are getting three snack packs from the brand Fruit Bowl in three different varieties:

Unicorn Flakes
• Strawberry Yogurt flakes
• Juicy Yogurt Raisins

So you get a great little variety to taste test! My personal favourite has to be the Strawberry Yogurt Flakes, which have a really nice soft and juicy strawberry center covered in creamy yogurt.. super tasty and great for adults not just kids! Although I think these are especially perfect for kids as they're such a great size to pop in a lunch box for school or to keep them going whilst out and about, I'm sure they would definitely be drawn to the fun unicorn packaging on the Unicorn Flakes bag!

Retail price: £0.49 per pack

Strings & Things Cheeshapes Voucher

Also in the box we are recieving a voucher for a pack of Strings & Things Cheeshapes, which can be redeemed in most supermarkets! The Cheeshapes are a brand new release from the brand and are available in two varieties: Randoms and Iconic Faces, which both contain real cheese pieces. I think they would definitely be ideal for kids and make snack time a lot more fun with the surprise element, they could also be a great way to get a fussy eater to eat more dairy! Besides the fun factor the cheese pieces are also pretty tasty too with a really nice cheese flavour, so they definitely get my approval and I love that they've been included in the box, I mean who doesn't love cheese?

Retail Price: £1.50 ( For a bag containing 3 mini bags)

UFIT Chocolate Protein Drink

Next up in the box we are getting a chocolate protein drink from the brand UFIT, which contains no added sugar just sugar that's naturally occuring from the milk, so it's a great alternative if you're looking for something a little healthier that's packed with protein but still going to give you that tasty chocolate fix! It has a really nice creamy chocolaty taste and a really smooth texture, not too thick but not too thin either, just the right balance for me. You really don't think you're drinking something healthier at all so it's definitely a winner for me and a great little addition to this month's box!

Retail Price: £2 & available at Tesco, ASDA, Morrisons, Boots and Holland & Barrett

Heinz Beef Ravioli

Also in the box we are getting a tin of Beef Ravioli, which I'm sure is an item we've all tried before. Not the most exciting but it's an item we buy in our house regularly so it's great to save a little money and have a tin included in the box. Perfect on toast for those evenings when you're wanting a quick and easy meal!

Retail Price: £1.25

JellySqueeze Jelly Pouches

Next up we have some Jelly Pouches from the brand JellySqueeze which contain no added sugars or artificial sweeteners and are suitable for vegans too, which is amazing! We are getting three flavours of pouches in the box this month:

Strawberry
• Orange
• Apple & Blackcurrant

So we get to try out a good variety of flavours,  perfect for finding out your favourite before potentially purchasing more! These are obviously especially great for kids and the squeeze tubes mean a lot less mess than regular jelly pots, making them ideal for on-the-go aswell as at home. I tried these out a few days ago and they're actually pretty good and make for a really refreshing snack, especially the strawberry flavour which was my personal favourite. I think kids would definitely be a big fan of them!

Retail Price: £0.50 per pack & available at ASDA, Ocado, Booths and Nisa

Pure Leaf Tea

Also in the box we are getting a tub of Pure Leaf tea in one of three possible flavours:

Gun Powder Green Tea
• Black Chai
• Green Tea with Jasmine

So something a little different from your typical standard tea but they'll definitely be fun to try! The teas from Pure Leaf sound really interesing, they're blending using only the finest long tea leaves then are paired with natural ingredients such as herbs, flower petals and real fruit pieces to create a unique taste. I haven't had chance to try any myself yet but I think they're a great addition to the box, especially if you're a big tea fan and like discovering new brands and blends!

Retail Price: £3.99 each

KITKAT Senses Bars

Next up and probably my favourite items in the box are two of the new KITKAT Senses bars in the flavours Salted Caramel and Hazelnut, which I was so excited to try as I'm a huge kit kat fan, especially when they have a filling inside! The new Senses bars offer the perfect combination of chocolate and wafer with a layer of filling in-between too and I really enjoyed them both, especially the Salted Caramel bar which has the perfect soft salty caramel filling which compliments the crunchy wafer and chocolate perfectly. They definitely get my approval and I love that we got to try them out before they were released in stores, another great perk you can sometimes get with a Degusta box!

Retail Price: £0.85 per bar and available in all major retailers from September

Items exclusive to the alcohol box:

Blossom Hill Pale Rosé

The first item exclusive to the alcohol box this month is a Blossom Hill Pale Rosé which was actually a winner of Product of the Year in 2019, so you know you're getting a popular favourite with this one. I haven't tried this yet but it's described as refreshingly dry with delicate floral aromas and notes of summer fruits, so it sounds like the perfect summer Rosé! Size wise it's a really generous 750ml bottle we are getting in the box which I think is amazing, I was expecting a much smaller bottle considering how affordable the box is, so we're getting really great value for money with this item!

Retail Price: £6.50 & available at ASDA

ManiLife Peanut Butter pods

Also exclusive to the alcohol box are some mini peanut butter pods from the brand ManiLife in two varieties: Original Roast Crunchy and Deep Roast Smooth. So there's something for both the smooth and crunchy lovers here! Their peanut butter is made from the finest peanuts sourced from a single-estate in Argentina which are then roasted and blended in small batches. The peanuts are naturally sweeter and have a fat profile more similar to olive oil, meaning they're also better for you too!

I really enjoyed trying out both of flavours, they were honestly some of the tastiest peanut butters I've tried and that's coming from someone who's tried a lot. My favourite had to be the smooth, it's roasted for longer to give it a more deep intense flavour and boy is it good.. so rich and tasty! I'll definitely be buying a full size tub now as this one is way more tasty than the current peanut butter I'm buying. So I'm very happy I got to discover it inside the box!

Retail price: £0.59 each and available at Waitrose, Ocado, Amazon and Holland & Barrett

Items exclusive to the non alcohol box:

Nuttvia Hazelnut Spread

The first item exclusive to the non-alcohol box is a jar of Hazelnut Spread from the brand Nuttvia. This one claims to have the same rich flavour and creamy texture as other brands but with 97% less sugar and no palm oil, which means it's so much better for our planet and is also a great alternative health wise too if you're looking to cut down on your sugar intake. Aswell as those benefits, taste wise it doesn't disappoint either! It's such a delicious spread and is so rich and creamy with a lovely nutty taste. I've loved spreading this one on my toast for a tasty chocolate fix and also adding it to my porridge in the mornings too, which I definitely recommend doing if you're a porridge fan like me as it's such a perfect combo, it's definitely made my porridge 10 times tastier!

Retail Price: £3.99 and available at Whole Foods, Ocado, Amazon and Morrisons

Mighty Fine Coated Almond Dips

Lastly and the second item exclusive to the non alcohol box are a pack of Skinny Coated Almond Dips from the brand Mighty Fine. In the August box you'll receive one of two flavours: Dark Chocolate or Dark Chocolate Raspberry, which both sound delicious to me! I haven't tried them yet but I've heard great things about the brand from fellow bloggers, so I'm sure they are going to go down a treat.

Retail Price: £1.39 and available at Ocado,
Whole Foods and www.mightyfine.co

..and that's it! I hope you enjoyed hearing about what's inside the August Degusta Box and my thoughts on a few of the products. Overall I'm really impressed with the contents and have definitely discovered some new favourites, including that delicious peanut butter from ManiLife and those tasty KitKat Senses bars too!

Let me know in the comments if you've tried any boxes from Degusta Box before and your thoughts?
