New Créme Brulee Chocolate Bar Palette from I Heart Revolution

It's time for another beauty review! This time I'm going to be sharing my thoughts on the new Créme Brulee Chocolate Bar palette from I Heart Revolution which is one of their latest releases.. and it's another gorgeous one! There new releases just seem to be getting better and better recently so I'm very excited to share my review and lots of photos and swatches of the palette with you all!

The packaging

Firstly let's talk about the packaging because as always I Heart Revolution have nailed it! It's in the exact same design as their many other Chocolate Bar palettes with the classic chocolate bar drip effect that we all know and love! This ones obviously Créme Brulee themed with a yellow base and brown chocolate bar top which I think looks gorgeous, it's definitely my kind of packaging!

Inside the palette the shadows are layed out into three neat rows with the shade names labelled underneath. I love that they've changed the palettes to this layout and ditched the compartment with the brush that they had in their older design as it's so much more practical this way! The palette also comes with a really big mirror making it perfect for on-the-go makeup and taking away on any holidays.

The shades

The palette has a mix of 18 shades including 10 matte and 8 shimmer finishes, which is the perfect mix of both for me. That includes a mix of both warm and cool toned shades ranging from rich oranges and coppers to cool browns and deep purples and blues! You definitely have everything you need in this palette to create so many different makeup looks, whether that's a soft natural day time look or something more dark and smokey with the deep dark blue shimmer. They've definitely thought of everything with this one, there's even two different shades for setting the lid depending whether you want a white powder like 'Dust' or something more nude based like the 'Set' shade, which has been the one I've been reaching for constantly when using this palette, it's perfect for setting any base makeup on the eyes and matches my skin tone really well too!

My personal favourite shade in the palette has to be 'Custard' which is a gorgeous light golden shimmer that I've been reaching for so much ever since the palette has arrived, it's the perfect shade to pop over the lid to finish of a makeup look with the matte browns in the palette. It's definitely one of the prettiest light golds I've tried in a while! Oh, and it makes for a gorgeous inner corner highlight too and really makes the eyes pop. Another shade I'm really liking is 'Demerara' which is a stunning yellow gold shimmer shade packed with so much pigment and covered in golden glitters, which again goes perfectly with so many of the matte shades in the palette. I'm definitely converted to wearing yellow golds after wearing this one!

Also, besides the actual shades how cute are the shade names that they've chosen too? I love that they're all fun Créme Brulee themed names like 'Yolk', 'Flambé and 'Custard' whilst still being relevant to the colours. You'll never find I Heart Revolution using boring standard shade names and I love that!

Formula and Finish

Now, let's talk about the formula and finish of the shades as they don't disappoint either. Lets start with the mattes! I've found the majority of them blend out so nice and easily on the eyes, especially the browns which blend out so evenly and smoothly without very much work at all, even the darker browns which I find are the ones that can sometimes let a palette down but not in this case! The only shade that I've struggled to work with is the purple which can look a little patchy on the eyes when trying to build it up and is not as pigmented as it looks in the pan either. It's definitely workable but takes a lot longer and lots of blending compared to the other mattes which just blend like a dream. Fallout wise, I have found some shades to have a little kick back in the pan but never when applied on the face, which is great!

Now onto the shimmers, which are my favourite kind of finish! All eight in this palette are SO pigmented and apply to the eyes really smoothly without any fallout at all. I actually can't get over how stunning they are for such an affordable price, I've always been impressed by I Heart Revolution but these shimmers are honestly up there with the shimmers in my favourite high end palettes, if not better! Application wise the shades apply nicely with both a brush and fingers, I've found applying them with my fingers is definitely my preferred method though as the full pigmentation is instantly there that way rather than having to build them up, which is sometimes needed when using a brush especially with any deep shades like 'Torched'. Overall though finish wise I'm really really impressed, palettes like this one definitely remind me that drugstore makeup really can be just as good and if not better than high-end!

Are they long-lasting?

Now let's talk about the wear time! I've been testing these with and without primer as I find a good primer on the eyes can really help make a shade last. ( Urban Decay Primer Potion is my all time fave! ) All of the shimmers easily last throughout the day with a primer and don't budge whatsoever, without primer the majority last exactly the same except for the shade 'Custard' which does become less intense throughout the day compared to how pigmented it was when first applied. So that one shade does need a primer to last aswell as the others but overall I'm really impressed, especially considering it's been VERY hot whilst I've been wear-testing these!

The matte shades last really well with a primer too and really don't budge at all once on but without do start to fade down after around five to six-ish hours, so I do recommend wearing an eye primer underneath with those especially with the hot weather we've been having lately!

Worth the price?

The palette currently costs £8.99 so I definitely think this one is worth the price and more! I think £8.99 is such a bargain for the quality you're getting and with such a big range of shades too. Revolution could definitely get away with upping their prices because the quality of the palette is so impressive, but obviously I'm so glad they're still keeping their prices down and making quality makeup affordable, yay!

..and that's it! I hope you enjoyed hearing my thoughts on the new Créme Brulee palette from I Heart Revolution. I'm so impressed with the quality of this palette and can't get over how gorgeous the shades are, especially those incredible shimmers. I'll be sharing more reviews of lots of the other new Chocolate Bar palettes on my blog soon, so stay tuned for those too!

Let me know in the comments what your favourite Chocolate Bar palette they've released so far has been?
