New Sweetie Cupcake highlighters from Misslyn Cosmetics

It's time for another beauty post, this time I'm going to be talking about the new Sweetie Cupcake Trio Highlighters that have recently been released from Misslyn Cosmetics! They've released two new highlighters: 'Sugar Rush' and 'Holy Sprinkles' and I've been really pleasently surprised by them both, so I'm very excited to share my thoughts on them with you!

The packaging

Firstly let's talk about the packaging because I'm a little bit obsessed! Both of the highlighters come in the cutest pastel cupcake themed compacts which are my idea of packaging heaven. It doesn't get much better than cupcakes and makeup combined, right? Even the actual highlighters have their own 3D cupcake design too which I think looks amazing, they're definitely some of the prettiest looking highlighters I've seen in a good while. Another bonus about the packaging is that both of the compacts have their own mirrors, making them perfect for popping in your handbag for any touch ups throughout the day!

The shades

Both of the palettes include 3 different highlighter shades, that can either be used individually or mixed together for a flush of all of the colours too!

Holy Sprinkles:
• A yellow gold shade
• 2 icy irridescent purple/pink shades with silver and pink glitters

Sugar Rush:
• A bronze shade
• A warm gold shade
• A champagne shade

Both have such a pretty mix of shades in my opinion and compliment eachother so well! My personal favourite is the champagne shade from the Sugar Rush palette, which works so well with my pale skin and adds the most gorgeous champagne glow. It looks even prettier in the sunlight too when the glitters hit the light, so this is definitely going to get lots of use from me this summer! I'm also surprisingly liking the two irridescent pink shades which I wasn't expecting at all. I normally tend to stay away from pink highlighters as they can sometimes look a little too bold on my skin tone but these applied lightly add such a lovely flush of icy pink to the face without looking too over the top at all!

Formula and Finish

All of the shades have a really smooth formula that applies to the skin so evenly without any fallout or patchiness at all! They are all packed with pigment too and build up on the skin really well with that smooth finish, perfect for creating both something subtle or built up to a really intense glow. These compacts have got you covered either way! Finish wise, these all give a beaming shimmery glow to the skin with fine glitters that look amazing in the sunlight, perfect if you like your highlighters to have a little glitter in the finish but not too much.

I've also found that all of the shades work really well on the eyes too aswell as the face, making them perfect for finishing of an eye look with a pop of shimmer! The bronze shade also looks lovely lightly topped over my usual bronzers, adding an extra glow dimension to the face. So these are definitely great multi-use compacts that can be used in quite a few different ways!

Are they longwearing?

Wear wise these compacts don't disappoint either. I've found they've all lasted really well on my skin throughout the day and have still been there by the end of a long one which I am so impressed with for the price, especially considering a lot of my high-end highlighters don't even last on my skin this well!

Worth the price?

Both of the compacts are available online at Beauty Bay and instores at Primark for £10.50 each. It's a little bit higher than most drugstore prices for a highlighter compact but you are getting three shades in one with these so I really do think they're worth it, especially considering how great the formula is and how well the shades last too. They've definitely got my full approval!

..and that's it! I hope you enjoyed hearing my thoughts on the new Sweetie Cupcake highlighters from Misslyn. I'm so pleasently surprised by these, especially the Sugar Rush highlighter which I can see myself reaching for so much over the upcoming summer months. I  hope they bring out even more in different shades soon as the finish and formula is honestly amazing!

Let me know in the comments which new highlighter you would choose?

  1. These are so pretty, Kate! I always find myself really reluctant to start using compacts as beautiful as these because I don't want to ruin the patterns, haha. Of the two, I think I'd probably use the Sugar Rush trio more because I do love a bronzer with a little bit of sparkle for summer. Beautiful photos and super detailed review, thank you for sharing :)

    1. I feel you, almost too pretty to use? haha! That's my favourite too, I love the mix of shades :) Thank you so much! xx

  2. These are so adorable, I would definitely be tempted not to use them just because I wouldn't want to destroy the detail in those pretty cupcakes! lol Thank you for sharing.
