A dreamy Jo Malone gift set from World Duty Free

Last month I was lucky enough to be invited to an amazing blog event with World Duty Free, which was held in their Biza store at Terminal one in Manchester Airport which is basically a beauty lovers idea of heaven. It's impossible to walk through without being tempted by something, with so many amazing brands and displays featuring new releases. Terminal one is actually the Terminal where I usually travel from, so even though I'm pretty familiar with it it was so lovely to be able to explore for longer and learn about some of the brands they stock in more depth!

One brand that really stood out to me on the night was Jo Malone, in Terminal one Jo Malone and Bobbi Brown are actually in a seperate store just a little further down away from the main Biza store! The store is beautiful and I feel like both of these brands are such classy ones, that don't release products unless they know they're of the highest quality. So, if you're looking to splurge before a flight on some luxury products anytime soon then that is the place to go!

If you've been following my Instagram for a while then you'll know that I'm absolutely obsessed with candles, especially throughout the winter months. Nothing beats making a room all cosy by lighting a good candle throughout the colder months, right? So, as soon as I saw this candle set I couldn't resist picking it up, and how beautiful does it look? I'm obsessed with the traditional black and cream packaging that's beautifully tied with a bow! This is their travel candle collection which includes three gorgeous scents, one being my favourite Jo Malone scent English Pear and Freesia, aswell as Blackberry and Bay and also Lime basil and mandarin which are two scents I was yet to try.

The set costs £55.65, which is still definitely on the pricier side for votive sized candles but for a luxury brand like Jo Malone this price is actually very good and it's obviously duty free too, which is amazing! Even though Jo Malone are more of an expensive brand you really can't fault the quality of their products at all, at least the ones I've tried so far anyway! These are 60g candles, and for such small candles these actually have excellent scent throws. They are obviously not the strongest scented candles I've tried as they are on the smaller side, but they do fill the air in a room really nicely and also linger pretty well afterwards too, which is always a great bonus to a candle.

Now, let's talk about the scents..

'Childhood memories of blackberry picking...A burst of deep, tart blackberry juice, blending with the freshness of just-gathered bay and brambly woods.'

This one is just gorgeous! I can't believe I still hadn't tried this scent until recently, but I can definitely see why everyone makes such a fuss about it now as it's really something special. It's a very rich elegent scent, whilst still having a hint of freshness to it with it's fruity notes.. When I think of blackberry scents I imagine a sweet feminine fragrance but this is the opposite and more of a masculine scent in my opinion, the blackberry comes across as a very true blackberry scent, not very sweet and instead more tart which I love. I really like the earthy and woody notes that the fragrance has too, they blend together so well with the blackberry notes making this the perfect Autumn candle. I'm a big fan, and I am desperate to get my hands on one of the full sized candles now or a cologne as I really do love the scent!

'The essence of autumn. The sensuous freshness of just-ripe pears is wrapped in a bouquet of white freesias, and mellowed by amber, patchouli and woods. Luscious and golden.'

I already knew I loved this scent and this candle has that exact gorgeous blend just as I remember. Compared to Blackberry and Bay this is a much more feminine scent, not overly feminine but alot more floral and fruity! The Freesia and pear compliment eachother so well, and just seem to have that perfect scent balance together, it's also quite a light scent and isn't musky or heavy at all which I much prefer in a candle. It's definitely my favourite Jo Malone scent I've tried so far personally, so I'm very excited to finish using it. I could honestly rave about this scent all day, but then this post would be wayyy too long so let's just sum it up as the 'Best scent ever'!

'Our signature fragrance. Peppery basil and aromatic white thyme bring an unexpected twist to the scent of limes on a Caribbean breeze. A modern classic.'

This is another winner! It's such a vibrant and refreshing scent, with a delicious twist of the peppery basil. I love the citrus notes coming from this one as I'm a huge fan of any kind of citrus based scent especially when lime is involved, if you're too then I think you're almost certain to love this one just as much as me. I'm trying to be very honest and critical as always, but this time it's impossible as Jo Malone do really just nail their scents, besides the price they are just so hard to fault!

For me this one comes across as the strongest scent out of the three, but it isn't heavy at all and still has a very nice balance to it just like the other two scents.  It also has a really lovely fresh summery feel to it which would make this one a gorgeous scent to burn throughout the summer months, but I also think the addition of the basil makes this one ideal for all year round too, yay!

I hope you enjoyed hearing a little bit more about this set, I think it's absolutely gorgeous and would make the perfect Luxury gift for anyone, or in my case a treat for yourself! I also think it's ideal if you're looking to try out a few of Jo Malones most popular scents in one go, before deciding whether to purchase them in full size. I've loved trying out a few more scents, and have definitely discovered some new favourites which is exciting!

Let me know in the comments if you have any favourite scents from Jo Malone?

  3. Love the Jo Malone gift set you bought! Big plus when it's duty free! Candles are the best - they give life to the room. Even though it's a bit expensive, it's totally worth the investment. I know I'd like the English pear and freesia scent. Glad you enjoyed the Lime basil and mandarin scent as well.

I absolutely love candles, especially now the darker nights are rolling in! I don't know which of the scents I would prefer most - the one with basil sounds intriguing though!
Terminal One in Manchester is great for duty free too isn't it? I travelled from Terminal 2 this year, and you deffo notice a difference, it seems much smaller than 1!
