Behind the blog: Food and Other Loves

Today I'm going to be sharing the next post in my behind the blog series, and todays is going to be in collaboration with Tiffany from the blog Food and Other Loves, who is a 23 year old lifestyle blogger from Sheffield! So, let's find out a bit more about her and her blog..

Tell me more about your blog?

Food and Other Loves is a lifestyle blog so I pretty much cover everything! I first started my blog as a place for recipes but eventually I started adding in beauty and since then I've just used it as a place to talk about all the different things I love and that I'm passionate about.

What inspired you to start blogging?

I didn't actually know much about blogging when I first started and I kind of set mine up on a whim. I had just left university and wasn't sure what to do next so whilst I was looking for a job, I started my blog as I needed something to do and I've never regretted it since.

Besides blogging, what else do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I love baking, not much makes me more happy than baking a cake or a batch of brownies for people. I also love going to the cinema!

What are your favourite and least favourite things about blogging?

My favourite thing about blogging is probably all of the lovely people I've met because of it. There are people I genuinely consider friends now who I'd have never got to know otherwise. I also just love having my own little place to share my thoughts and document things that have happened. My least favourite thing is probably how much drama seems to go on. As the blogging community is so big now, sometimes someone will pick up on something and it just explodes and everyone seems to get involved.

What's been your greatest blogging achievement so far?

I was really proud when I hit 2000 Twitter followers, I know it's not much compared to some bloggers but it took me such a long time and it was something I'd wanted to get to for a while. Also getting to 1000 on Instagram was amazing as it's such a hard platform to grow at the moment.

Do you have any holy grail beauty items?

One product I always go back to is the Rimmel Lasting Finish foundation, I've been using it for years! It works so well for me and I highly recommend it.

Who's inspired you the most with regards to your blog?

Mostly other bloggers inspire me but there are so many! I've got to know some amazing women because of blogging and all of them inspire me in different ways to keep going with it.

How do you stay motivated and organised with your blog?

The main way I stay organised is by keeping lists! I have a document that has all of my post ideas on and that's also how I schedule them too, this helps so much!

If you could only buy from one beauty brand for the rest of your life, which would it be and why?

Probably Rimmel! I love their foundations, blushers and mascaras so I could easily just buy from them I think.

Describe your fashion style?

Casual! I'm really not very out there with it. I know what suits me and I just tend to stick to that. Skinny jeans usually, sandals and a pretty top.

What's one book you always recommend to people?

Reasons to stay alive by Matt Haig. I read it a few years ago and it's stuck with me since.

Do you have any skincare secrets?

Not really but I do love using a cleansing oil. They make your skin feel amazing so I really recommend trying one of those.

Where has been your favourite travel destination so far?

I've not been away loads but I've recently come back from Paris and that was beautiful. There was so much to see but I don't feel like I even nearly covered it all, so I'd love to go again in the future. London is also a favourite of mine. I talk about it quite a lot on my blog!

Where is on your bucket list to travel to next?

I would just love to do a beach holiday, maybe somewhere like Greece. Something all inclusive so unlimited drinks and ice cream by a pool. I just want to relax for a week in the sun, that would be lovely!

What's been your favourite blog post you've published so far and why?

I'm so proud of lots of different blog posts but one I'm really happy with is about my love for musicals and why I don't feel embarrassed by it anymore. I was quite worried about posting it but I felt so good afterwards and it received some really lovely comments.

What advice do you have for any new bloggers?

Just write for you. As there are so many bloggers now it's so easy to get caught up in what other people are doing and feeling like you have to blog like them to be successful or popular but you really don't. Talk about the things you love and be passionate, remember why you wanted to start a blog in the first place.

  5. Aww yay I love Tiffanys blog! I find so many fab recipes on there that make my mouth water and isn't it funny how so many peoples least favourite thing about blogging is the drama?! Hmm haha, wish it would all disappear! I really need to read Matt Haigs books too, so many people rave about them!

  6. Thank you for sharing another from this series! Any blogger who blogs about food automatically becomes a favourite; I'm a sucker for baked good! I've noted down 'Reasons to say alive' as I'm always after new books, and it sounds like something I'd love. Now I'm over to Tiffanys blog to find some new recipes!
