My summer skincare essentials

With summer now in full swing I thought I would share some of my favourite summer skincare essentials, including lots of SPF products that are perfect for all this hot weather we are having lately in the UK! I'm going to talk about a range of products from suncream and facial mists to post sun care too, so let's get into the post..

First up is the award winning skin defense from Vitage skincare, which is an SPF and moisturizer in one, and I always make sure to apply this to my face before heading out into the sun. It contains SPF 30 and advanced skincare technology that shields the skin from UVA and UVB damage and environmental stress, which can all lead to premature ageing.. which nobody wants right?

This one actually leaves a matte based finish to the skin, so this is perfect for applying before any foundation or other base makeup. It's water resistant too, which is amazing and means it's ideal to wear on holiday whilst in the pool or the sea to help keep the face protected, as there's nothing worse than a bright red burnt nose is there?

It also contains some great ingredients for the skin too:

•Brazilian Green Tea
•Rosehip Oil
•Aloe Vera
•Sodium Hyaluronate

I love how hydrated it keeps the skin, it really helps to pack in moisture and leave my skin feeling good as new! I find the formula to be really lightweight which I love, as there's nothing worse than a thick heavy suncream that clogs the pores, right? It's also suitable for all skin types too, which is obviously a big bonus.. so this would be a great one to try if you have very sensitive skin and react to alot of other sun protection creams. I'm really impressed with this one, and will definitely be buying myself a bottle next summer!

Next up is a facial spritz from Anatomicals, who are a great afforable brand I love! The spray contains calming lavender and refreshing peppermint extracts, which help to rehydrate and revitalize skin.. It's perfect on a hot day to keep the skin feeling cool and refreshed. I also love popping this in the fridge for a few hours too, which helps to keep my face feeling even more fresh, especially during any super hot weather.

This is definitely the perfect summer handbag essential, and is ideal for on the go whether you're on a hot train or at the beach. Oh, and even though it's a spritz it doesn't seem to effect my makeup at all, which is obviously a great bonus! Scent wise it does have a lavender scent to it, but it's pretty light and not overpowering at all.. but if you're not a fan of scented products I'd maybe give this one a miss.

Price wise, this retails for around £6 which I think is a pretty fair price for what you're getting.. So, overall I'm a big fan of the spritz and this is another one I'll definitely be purchasing next year, I think this would be perfect for my holiday to Disney World in Florida next summer.. so I'll definitely be popping one in my suitcase then.

Another summer essential for me is the skin calming aloe gel from Vitage skincare, I know I've mentioned this brand twice already but they really are great. It's a lightweight gel that helps to sooth and cool stressed and irritated skin! I've found that it's amazing to apply after being out in the sun.. I was at the beach last weekend in the VERY hot sun, and this little lifesaver was great at helping to cool my shoulders afterwards, it really does seem to give an immediate soothing relief to any burnt skin.

It contains some great ingredients too including..

100% Organic Aloe Vera
•Chamomile extract
•Calendula Extract

These are all known to help restore and heal any delicate skin, so I would imagine this would be great to use if you have sensitive skin too. The gel like formula applies so much better than any after sun type product I've used before, it literally melts into the skin so easily and doesn't have an annoying sticky formula either! Price wise this retails for £14, so a little pricey for body care but in my opinion it's worth every penny!

Another product I've been loving so far this summer is the SFP 15 moisturising sun lotion spray from Asda! This is perfect for those days where it's not too hot but still sunny, and you're looking for a lighter SPF. It has the highest UVA rating, is dermatologically tested, and is also water resistant too! It claims to leave the skin moisturised which it does do well, but after a day in the sun I would still recommend using an aftersun like the aloe gel or a moisturiser to keep your skin extra moisturised and to stop it from peeling, especially when it's very hot!

I love that this is a spray rather than a regular bottle, as it's alot less messy and easier to use.. it applies so smoothly the skin with no fuss at all, and rubs in really quickly, leaving no white marks. It's a little sticky when first applied but after a few minutes that soon goes when the cream fully soaks up into the skin.

So, if you're looking for a lighter SPF for those cooler days then I really recommend this one, but if it's very hot then I would definitely go for a higher SPF, which they have available too in the same formula, which is great for us pale skin girls and boys. Besides everything else I've mentioned one of the best things about this one is the price, it costs just £2.39 at the moment, which is a bargain, right?

Lastly are something to help keep the lips hydrated and they are the macaron lip balms from MOR Boutique, which are becoming one of my favourite new brands! Firstly how gorgeous are these balms, they are definitely some of the prettiest I've owned.

The balms contain lots of hydrating ingredients including nourishing jojoba, papaya, rosehip and coconut oils, which are also blended with beeswax, cocoa butter and vitamin E. So, there's definitely alot of great ingredients included in these balms, I especially love that they contain vitamin E as that's one ingredient that my own skin seems to love, especially my lips.. and is perfect for keeping them soft and moisturised.

One of the star ingredients is the rose hip though, which is massively talked about when it comes to skincare. It's high in Vitamins A & C and rich in Omega 3, 6 & 9, which regenerate and assist in preventing premature ageing caused by sun damage.. So, this is definitely the perfect lip essential with all the warm weather we've been having lately!

Aswell as the skin benefits, these smell amazing too.. my favourite is blood orange as I'm a huge fan of fruity and citrus based scents.. it smells super refreshing too. Price wise, these cost £6.00 on Feel Unique at the moment. So, they are obviously not the cheapest for a lip balm compared to some out there, however these definitely are a very good quality balm, and I couldn't recommend them enough.

I hope you enjoyed hearing about some of my favourite summer essentials, these five have become my staples in this warm weather, especially the products from Vitage! Let me know in the comments if you have any favourite skincare essentials for the summer months?

  2. Some lovely skin protecting products you've shared in this post! I know that I really should be wearing SPF on my face but honestly it always breaks me out, and as someone with moderate acne I always hesitate to put anything that may break me out on my face. Either way, I try to protect my skin in other ways.
The Aloe Vera Calming Gel sounds really nice, I've actually been on the hunt for an aloe vera product (excluding the actual aloe plant cause I know I'll be getting one soon) so thank you for sharing!

  3. I love the sound of the Anatomincals face spritz! I use Magicool, which isn’t a nice smelling mist but just basically cold in a bottle which cools me down during Summer but I’d be keen to try this!

  7. As a fellow pale girl, I am loving this post! SPF is so crucial in the summertime, and this Vitage skin defence sounds like a great option. I also love Anatomicals so the spritz sounds great - I've really got into using them when it's hot out!

  8. I am so bad at looking after my skin the summer, unless I'm going on holiday. Seeing as the weather has been do nice recently, I really need to start purchasing some products. I love aloe vera, it honestly seems to fix my skin no matter the problem. I really want to try Anatomicals (in love with their packaging), and my face just melts in the summer, so I think this may have to be my firts purchase!
    Thanks for sharing.

  10. Mmmm that face spray sounds so lovely!! Lavender and peppermint, what a combo! Sounds like it'd be really nice before bed aswell. The vitage SPF sounds perfect for me too! I've been meaning to get into a facial SPF for the longest time but all the ones I've tried have left me with a horribly shiny and sticky face which is gross, it makes you feel like you can't apply make up on top either! Definitely need to get my hands on a few of these bits, fab post Kate!
