I heart Revolution: Naked chocolate palette

In today's post I'm going to be talking about the Naked Chocolate palette from I Heart Revolution! I've tried out so many products from Makeup revolution as a whole, but not so many of their eyeshadow palettes so I was very excited to try this one out and see whether it lived up to the hype or not, as I've seen so many great reviews on this one recently!

First things first, how adorable is the packaging? I love the bright yellow 3D half melted chocolate bar design, which is supposed to replicate white chocolate, it's definitely a photogenic palette for sure! The palette is made of plastic so it's obviously not the most luxurious packaging, but it feels very sturdy and I've had no problems with it so far at all.

A big bonus is that the palette comes with a huge mirror, so it makes it the ideal palette to take on the go or for when travelling.. it does come with a sponge tipped applicator too, but I find the shadows apply alot better with my own brushes! I also love how alot of the shade names are chocolate related too, such as 'Tob-le-rone', 'Wonka' and 'Buttons'.. which I think is a very cute touch! I've heard alot of people rave about the scents of these palettes, to me it's not exactly a chocolate scent, but it does have a nice sweet scent to it.. but it's very light, and is much more of a delicate scent so there's no need to worry about it being overpowering if you're not a fan of scented products!

The palette contains 16 eyeshadows which includes a good mix of both shimmers and matte finishes! Shade wise you get a great mix of gorgeous brown and coppery shades aswell as some paler shades that are perfect for brightening up the eyes. Some of the lightest shimmer shades could also be doubled up and used to highlight the face too, which is a great little bonus! You would definitely be able to create so many different looks with this palette, it's perfect for natural daytime looks and also for more glam nightime looks too.

I think the range of colours in the palette would work really well with most skin tones, even my super pale complexion! I actually think the darker browns and deep shimmery shades would look even more amazing on darker skin tones as there is some gorgeous deep toned shades in this one. It's definitely a great neutral palette, and I've had lots of fun trying out all of the different shades over the past month or so!

( Top to bottom: 'Smoothly', 'Divine', 'Mocha lover', 'Dipped' and 'Choc-fest'. )

( Top to bottom: 'Adorable', 'Buttons', 'Frosted choc', 'Delight', 'Sweet shop' and 'Sugar'. )

( Top to bottom: 'Double dip', 'Tob-le-rone', 'Wonka', 'Milky' and 'Way'. )

Pigmentation wise the majority of the shades are amazing, especially the darker shimmery shades. The only two shades that aren't so pigmented are two of the palest shades 'Smoothly' and 'Way'.. I find these too be quite chalky and have a little fall out too, along with the 'Sugar' shade which can sometimes apply a little patchy but apart from that I really can't complain about the pigmentation of the other shades at all!

The shimmery shades apply like a dream and are so buttery, which I was definitely pleasantly surprised about for such an afforable drugstore palette. My favourite shade out of the whole palette is the 'Double dip' shade and its honestly one of the best gold shades I've tried in a long time, the pigmentation is insane and the application is so smooth for a shimmery finish.. so I've definitely been reaching for this one alot since the palette has arrived!

Blending wise, I find both the mattes and shimmers blend out really nicely.. some of the darker matte shades need a little longer blending but overall I'm impressed! Apart from the two lightest shades I haven't noticed any fallout of the shadows at all, which is definitely a big bonus meaning you won't have to worry about the shadows ruining your base makeup! So all in all the quality really is impressive for the price, the palette is definitely a great alternative to alot of high end palettes if you're on a budget.. and even if you're not it's definitely a great little drugstore palette to try out anyway.

Now this is something I was really impressed with.. I found the shadows seemed to last me all day really well, which I was really surprised about for the price! The only shade that I didn't find so long wearing was the 'Way' shade which I've talked about earlier in this post, but apart from that one shade I've had no problems with my eyeshadow fading with this palette at all. Also just to note, I always wear a primer under my eyeshadow so just bare that in mind too!

The palette retails for £7.99 which I think is so afforable for a palette today especially considering how many shades it contains, it's definitely worth the price and more in my opinion and that's even with two or three of the shades not being the best quality wise.

If you're a fan of brown and neutral taupe like shades, then I really can't recommend this palette enough for such an afforable price.. I can definitely see why the eyeshadow palettes from Makeup revolution are so hyped about now. I think this would be a perfect palette for someone just starting out to wear makeup, as it would be perfect for practising some basic looks with, aswell as some more glam looks too!

I hope you enjoyed reading my thoughts on the palette, as you can see I am really impressed, and I'm very excited to keep on using it. I've actually been trying out two more of the I Heart Revolution chocolate palettes recently, so stay tuned as those reviews will be coming soon! Let me know if you've tried any of the chocolate bar palettes from them yet, and your thoughts?

  5. Wow, that is a bargain price for so many colours. And how adorable is that packaging? Also great that they have a really good mirror, so many other palettes have tiny ones or not at all. It sounds like the pigment and staying power are good too - great review, I shall have to check this brand out! x

  6. I can't believe this only costs £8, what a total bargain! The colour selection is gorgeous, I'd love some of those deeper shades for night-out makeup. I'm also really pleasantly surprised to hear they last a long time - I don't always expect cheaper makeup to be the best quality but this sounds great. I'll be checking this palette out for sure!
