New Mark makeup epic lipsticks from Avon: Hit or miss?

My favourite type of makeup products are definitely lipsticks, so I was very excited to try out a few of the new Mark makeup epic lipsticks from Avon. They've brought out a huge range of colours, so I'm very excited to share my thoughts on them with you!

Until these lipsticks arrived I had actually never tried or owned anything from Avon so I was very intrigued to try them out, and I definitely wasn't disappointed! Firstly I want to talk about the packaging because I absolutely love it! I am a big fan of the black and white design on the tubes, and really like that the Mark logo is engraved into the actual lipstick too - very pretty indeed.

The formula of the lipsticks is lovely, super creamy whilst feeling pretty moisturizing on the lips too giving them a really nice smooth finish. They are definitely not a matte finish and actually give a little bit of a shine to the lips, I would say they are a mixture of a satin and a sheer finish!

What's even better about these lipsticks is that they all have their own build in primer, meaning you can wear the gorgeous colours for longer without having to reapply too often! I can't speak for the full collection but the shades I've been trying out have lasted me around 6 hours depending on what I am doing, which for a creamy lipstick is pretty amazing!

There are 22 different shades in the range at the moment plus two online exclusives, which is pretty impressive for such a new range. The collection includes a range of nudes, reds, pinks, mauves and more! The range even includes some more 'out there' shades including a blue, purple and a grey, so there's definitely bound to be something for everyones tastes - I really like that they've included lots of bright and colourful shades, perfect with spring and summer both approaching! My two personal favourite shades from the range are 'Berry bold' and 'Rosy outlook'..

'Berry bold' as the name suggests is a bright berry red shade, which has such a gorgeous shine to the finish.. and I'm sure this would look even more amazing when the sun finally makes an appearance this year in the UK. This is actually one of my favourite reds I've tried so far, I find some reds just don't suit my skin tone but I really do love this one!

I find the darker shades a little harder to apply without a lip liner but that's probably because I'm definitely no makeup pro, if you struggle like me I definitely recommend using a red lip liner to help shape the lips first. I normally like to stick to nude lipsticks for everyday but this year I'm trying to get into wearing more darker and brighter colours, and I've definitely made a good start with this one!

The colour pay-off of this one is amazing, a little goes a very long way which means I definitely won't be running low on this one any time soon. This is a shade that I will definitely be taking away to New York with me, I absolutely love it!

The next shade and my favourite in the new collection is 'Rosy outlook' which is a very pretty rose toned nude shade. I am definitely a sucker for a nude lipstick, and I've been reaching for this one a lot lately.. the rose tones mean it's the perfect nude to wear with spring approaching too.

Finish wise this seems to be exactly the same as the 'Berry bold' shade, and gives a lovely shine to the lips but whilst still being packed with pigment.. I definitely seem to be stearing away from matte lipsticks these days, I think a glossy lip adds such a healthy glow to any makeup look and is something that's definitely starting to come back on trend this year.

Another thing I love about this shade is that it's super pigmented for a nude lipstick, with this one you really do only need one coat and you are good to go - perfect for everyday, or if you're always in a rush with your makeup, like me!

The lipsticks are actually on special offer at the moment for £5.50 but will eventually retail for £8, and even at the higher price they still remain pretty affordable. These are just as great in my opinion as other premium brands, but what's even better is that these are half the price.. so it's a no brainer right?

I hope you enjoyed reading my thoughts on the new lipsticks from Avon, as you can see I was surprisingly impressed and I can't wait to keep using them! Let me know if you've tried the new epic Mark lipsticks yet, and your thoughts?

  1. As always I adore your photography style! I haven't tried anything from Avon, not even sure where to purchase it near me haha. I haven't found my holy grail lip product yet so any post related to lippies peak my interest. If I see these I'll give them a swatch!
