March Birchbox review and my thoughts on the new Benefit bad gal bang mascara?

It's time for another Birchbox review, I haven't done one of these over on my blog in such a long time so I'm very excited to share what I recieved inside their March box with you! This month's box is a mindfulness edition meaning it includes some picks to help you relax and look after yourself, aswell as that Birchbox have actually made a donation to the Mind charity for every press box they sent out this month, which I think is amazing and is a great way to help spread awareness!

Birchbox are the UK's number one beauty subscription service. They offer a monthly subscription service and each box is filled with 5 beauty treats! Before your first box is shipped you can create your own beauty profile which enables them to tailor the products to suit your skin type, hair type and style - I love that they do this, as with some different subscription boxes I've recieved items that would be pretty useless for my hair and skin type, but this way you definitely don't need to worry about that!

First up this month everyone is getting a travel size Benefit bad gal bang mascara, which is a brand new release from Benefit. This has probably been one of the most controversial benefit products to be released to date, so I was very excited to try this one out for myself and see what the hype is all about..

I can only really give my first impressions on this one as I haven't been trying it long enough to give a full review but it definitely does give your lashes an amazing false lash effect, my only complaint is the clumping, it's definitely not the best mascara for separating the lashes at all but if you're all about the volume then this is definitely worth trying. However, for me I prefer my mascara to be lengthening and give more natural looking lashes so I probably wouldn't buy this in full size myself, but I'm glad I finally got to try one out at last!

Next up we are getting a set of hydrogel eye masks from Blaq, and I was very excited to see these in this month's box. My eyes get so tired and sore especially at night, so I was definitely in need of something like this and they didn't disappoint. I've actually tried quite a few different eye masks now, and these have been some of the best.. they are definitely a treat for tired eyes!

The masks contain activated charcoal to help detox and de-puff congested under eyes, and they really do just that. After using the mask for around 15 minutes myself my eyes felt so much more refreshed. I think an eye mask like this would be perfect to take on a long haul flight to help beat the jet lag.. I'm actually off to New York in a few months so I will definitely consider buying myself some more for then!

Next in this month's box we are getting a generous travel sized beach wave and shine spray from Oribe, who are a Luxury brand and this product actually retails for £36 in full size, so it's great that we are able to try out a sample!

This is the one product I haven't tried out yet, mainly because I usually keep my hair straight but I will definitely try this out when the weather starts to get warmer, I'll keep you updated on my thoughts when I do. The 2 in 1 formula works on wet or dry hair and aims to create a natural beach wave look, without the crispy effects of salt water.. I'm definitely intrigued about this one and will be excited to give it ago, I've read some reviews online and other bloggers seem to be loving it!

Also in the box we are getting a sample size of the Glamglow Supermud clearing mask, and I've actually tried this one myself before but I love Glamglow masks so I'm more than happy to have another sample. Glamglow are such a popular brand at the moment, especially within the blogging community, so I'm sure everyone else was just as happy as me to see this inside this month's box!

For me this one works amazing as a spot treatment, and really seems to help to unclog any pores. I have quite sensitive skin myself and this one doesn't seem to irritate my skin at all, like some other masks that contain acids. The mask actually contains a combination of activated charcoal and six different acids, so if you're looking for something to help clear out your skin quickly then I definitely recommend giving this one a try.

Lastly in this month's box we are getting a sample size of the Nuxe Reve De Miel body scrub. Before this sample I had actually never tried a product from Nuxe, so I was very excited to try this one out for myself.

The scrub contains sugar crystals and rice grains to gently exfoliate any dull skin away, aswell as honey and natural precious oils to deeply hydrate the skin. The sample size is pretty small, so I wasn't able to get too much use out of it but I really did enjoy trying out the product.. it's definitely a great luxury scrub. The honey scent is absolutely gorgeous too, without being overly sweet.. it definitely smells good enough to eat!

Monthly boxes cost just £10 plus £2.95 shipping, and even though the Nuxe sample is pretty small for a scrub I do still think you get your moneys worth.. especially with the eye masks and travel size mascara. I find a lot of subscription boxes get quite repetitive, but I love that I've been able to discover some new brands in this month's box!

I hope you enjoyed hearing my thoughts on this month's box, I am definitely pleasantly surprised with the contents and I love the mindfulness theme too. I think talking about mental health is SO important so it's amazing that Birchbox are doing something to help raise awareness! Let me know whether you had this month's box too, and your thoughts?

* This box was kindly gifted, however as always all opinions are my own. *

  1. I completely agree with your opinion on the Benefit mascara, not too bad but the clumpiness is a bit annoying!

    1. Definitely let's it down doesn't it! xx

  2. Ooh these products sound lovely! I haven’t tried these yet except the Glamglow mud (I got a sample but I think it’s the cleanser not the mask) and I don’t know of it caused a reaction on my face or something else. Could’ve been anything. Either way I loved your post as always!

  3. I love the look of this box! I really want to try the Bad Gal Bang as it sounds right up my street but I am worried I'll pay loads and not like it. The eye masks sound fab too, I always feel like my under-eyes need a bit of refreshing and brightening. It's so lovely that they're donating to MIND too, that's such a fab and generous thing to do!

  4. You got some cool products in there! I've recently stopped my subscription cause the items got soo small but now I want to start back up!

  5. It's a shame the bad gal doesn't separate the lashes that well. There's nonetheless a good selection of products in this box x

  6. Love the photos you've taken for this post they are so bright and spring-y. I think it's great that they are doing a mindfulness edition because who doesn't need to relax? Also, I've never heard about the fact that they tailor to the type of person when they send out the products which is great, I've never subscribed to boxes before mainly because I was worried about getting a product that doesn't work for me or isn't quite my style. Those Blaq hydrogel eye masks are definitely something I'm going to be checking out they sound great!
