Friction Free shaving review *

Today on the blog I'm going to be talking all about the company Friction Free Shaving, I don't know about you but I absolutely dread shaving my legs.. it's definitely one of the most boring tasks, but luckily Friction Free shaving have created a subscription service to make it a little easier and more fun, especially with summer just around the corner!

Friction Free shaving are a razor subscription service, boxes contain all the shaving products you'll ever need to get you through the month. They've been massively hyped about over the last year or so, especially within the blogging community so I was very excited to be able to try out some of their products for myself.

What's included does vary depending on which package you choose or how much you're willing to spend. That's one thing I love about the service, you can tailor your box to suit you and your budget, so there's definitely something for everyone's needs..

I recieved the Silvia razor, which is their silver razor with pastel orange detailing on the back, it's a very photogenic razor right? I love how sleek it looks, and it's surprisingly quite weighty too meaning it feels so much nicer than the plastic razors I'm used too.. I definitely won't be going back to them after trying this beauty!

This one retails for £9, which is more than I would usually pay but the quality really is worth every penny. The razor has a lubricating vitamin E strip and 6 stainless steel blades, which really do help the blades to glide across the skin very easily, I do have quite fine leg hairs because I'm naturally blond but even so I've never tried a razor that's done the job as well as this one has. It definitely feels more like a Luxury razor than the ones you will find at your local drugstore, and I for one am definitely converted!

Also with the razor I recieved 4 german engineered blade refills, a protective cover and a shower holder. Which are all very handy extras, the blades are recommended to be changed weekly to give the best results depending on how often you shave. I really love the effort that goes into each box.. it definitely shows that the company really do care about their customers. You can even add an engraving to your razor too, and I think this would be so handy if you share a bathroom with family members or friends!

There is also an option to add on any extras which include a pre shave scrub, a shaving cream and a post shave balm, I've loved trying out all three..

First of all, all of the add ons smell incredible.. they all have the same manuka honey and almond milk scent which is lovely and leaves your skin smelling amazing! My mum and sister have even been trying them, and really like the scent too.

The scrub aims to buff away any dead skin cells and blocked pores. I always use a scrub before shaving myself, I definitely find it helps so it's great to be able to add one on to your subscription.. if you have sensitive skin like me there's no need to worry about the scrub being too harsh, it's definitely more on the gentle side but still does the job well. The scrub is actually a walnut Scrub, which I can't say I've ever tried before, but it definitely works well!

Next up is their shaving cream, a shaving cream is definitely an essential for me.. especially with my sensitive skin! This one is great, and actually contains coconut oil, which we all know works wonders for the skin. If you have dry skin like me then you'll know that a shaving cream is definitely needed to avoid any extra dryness, so it's great that they have the option to add one on to your box.

This particular cream has a unique ‘cationic’ formula that aims to reduce friction so you get a closer shave and smoother skin. I really do find shaving creams like this definitely help to give me a closer, and cleaner shave whilst leaving the skin feeling moisturised and hydrated too. If you were just to choose one out of the three add ons to go with your box then I definitely recommend this one.

Another thing I really like about this particular shave cream is that it's transparent when applied, so you can actually see the hairs as you shave them rather than just relying on guessing, which definitely helps to save lots of time and effort!

The post shave balm is another add on, which has that same gorgeous Manuka honey and almond milk scent.. the balm actually contains cocoa butter which definitely helps the skin to feel hydrated and moisturised after shaving. To be honest my legs actually felt soft enough as they were before this step, as I think the shave cream definitely helped to lock in some moisture, so I've actually been using this one the morning after instead of straight after shaving to keep my legs fully moisturised!

The Manuka honey actually contains anti inflammatory properties, so it's great to use if your skin gets quite sensitive after shaving, as I'm sure this would really help to calm the skin down. Whilst the cocoa butter provides a deep hydration! The only downside to the add ons for me is that they are quite small, each bottle contains 100ml of product, which is definitely enough for the scrub but I think a bigger bottle of the shaving cream and post shave balm would be better.

I really do think you get what you pay for with these products, everything I've tried has been of a very good quality. The Razor is a little more expensive compared to the ones I would normally buy, but this one is so much better quality wise - so sometimes paying a little extra pays off.. I definitely won't be going back to my old plastic razors after trying this one.

The add ons are £6 each, which I don't think is too bad considering the quality. I do still wish they were a little bigger in size, but I really can't fault the quality at all especially of the shaving cream!

I hope you enjoyed my review, overall as you can probably tell already I'm very impressed and I love that the brand caters for all budgets and needs too, if you're tired of using the same old plastic razors then I definitely recommend giving this company's products a try! Let me know if you've tried the brand before, and your thoughts?

  2. I’ve never heard of these before but I think I’m long to have to check them out now! My boyfriend has just started using Dollar Shace Club which is pretty similar (just aimed at men obviously lol) and he says subscription boxes are really worth it ☺️ I have thick, dark black leg hair so using the cheap ones never ends well 😫 xx

  8. First of all, I absolutely love the packaging/box it comes in, how cute! I've read a few reviews of FFS and all of them have been really good! I've never owned a nice razor, they've all been plastic like you said but for £9 with refillable blades, I think that's a brilliant price. Definitely think this would be a lovely pamper gift!

  11. Ooh I have never heard of this subscription service! I think this sounds like it would be super lovely to be honest. I am unfortunate and fortunate at the same time in the sense that my hair grows ridiculously fast! I can get a decent amount of hair chopped off and it'll grow back within a couple of months, but it also means that I have to shave my legs every morning. I have dark hair too so that doesn't help. Seriously though, I shave in the morning because if I shave in the evening it'll already be spiky by the time I get up. I like winter cause then I go a few days without shaving. Love the post!
