My thoughts on Pandora, a good addition to Walt Disney World?

This year Pandora, the world of Avatar opened in Disney's Animal kingdom at Walt Disney World, I was so excited and very lucky to finally experience it myself this past summer. I've heard so many contrasting thoughts on the addition - it seems that people either love it or hate it, So I'm excited to share my thoughts today on my blog, spoiler alert... I loved the place!

Pandora is themed on the Avatar film, which I think is such a beautiful film - although it's pretty long, 3 hours!! One of the most popular comments from people is that why is a non Disney movie featured in a Disney park? I can understand why people don't want a non Disney film in a Disney park, and in any other disney park I would agree. However, I think it fits right in with the unique and quirky vibes of Animal kingdom perfectly. Walt had always wanted a fictional, mystical land in the park, and they finally have it!

As soon as your in the heart of Pandora you really do feel as though your in another world, the theming in my opinion is so well done and thought out. The sounds, plants, waterfalls and the scenery feel so unusual, which makes it so much more exciting to explore. The area covers twelve whole acres which means there really is plenty of areas to explore and wander round!

Even the queues for the rides are covered in so many tiny details, which definitely help to pass the time whilst your queuing, looking at the detail you can definitely see why this area has been in the making for six whole years. I think maybe it's a place that will be much more appreciated by adults and older children, whereas I think younger children could get bored pretty quickly compared to more immersive areas of the park for them like Dinoland!

One of the main features are the breathtaking floating mountains, which feel huge when your standing beneath them in person, you will definitely feel like a very tiny person in comparison! I could happily explore Pandora for hours just taking in all the little details! At night it becomes even more special, the plants and trees become bioluminescent and light up with gorgeous purple and blue colours, which is stunning to see, so I would definitely recommend going both times of day to get the full experience!

Pandora features two major attractions, The Na’vi River Journey and Flight of Passage. The river journey is a slow moving boat ride (think it's a small world style) which takes you on a journey through a bioluminescent rainforest. Alot of people complain that this one is too slow and boring, but I guess Disney has to have something for everyone, and that means not every ride is going to be a thrill ride.

One thing you can't fault in the ride is the attention to every single detail, the ride is absolutely drenched in little details - it really is so beautiful to look at, it also features some very catchy music to acompony the ride, which I promise will be stuck in your head for the rest of the day, haha! The ride finishes with a huge life size Avatar anamatronic, which is so life like and also kind of creepy, I think small children would be a little freaked out! I do recommend riding it but I really don't think it's worth more than a 30 minute wait when there are better rides in the park!

The second ride, Flight of passage however has been massively raved about ever since opening and has now become my all time favourite ride in the parks, along side Splash mountain of course! The queue for this ride still reaches a wait time of three to four hours some days, and people still say its worth the wait. It's impossible to explain how incredible it is, it's a stimulator ride but you really do feel like you take off, flying into another world.

You essentially feel as though you're flying on the back of a Banshee into the world of pandora, the seat vibrations and sounds even give you the sensation of the Banshee breathing. And if that wasn't good enough there are even more sensory effects such as the scents coming through as you enter different areas and even a breeze as you feel like you're flying through the sky!

The depth of the scenery in the experience is incredible, everything is so detailed, I can't even imagine how long this ride would have taken to get perfect! The ride itself is actually five minutes long but it feels like seconds and you'll instantly want to ride again. I wish the queue was shorter or we would have done this so many times on our last holiday, but that makes me even more excited to go back and ride it again! If you do one thing when your in Disney, I definitely recommend riding this!

Apart from the rides one of the best things about Pandora is the amazing and unusual food and drinks. I got to try a few different bits this trip, and I honestly loved every single thing I tried, well almost all of them...

We got to try out Pandoras quick service location: Satuli Canteen. I was so impressed with the theming, It felt alot more like a sit down restaurant which was definitely a bonus. After seeing them all over Instagram I knew I had to try the cheeseburger pods, which is essentially a deconstructed cheeseburger and instead of bread the filling is inside a streamed bao bun.

They were that good we went back twice in our trip, the combo works so well together. It was surprisingly flavourful too for a quick service restaurant, I definitely picked up on the mustard and pickle flavour! The meal also came with root vegetable crisps and a crunchy coleslaw, which accompanied the dish well. The slaw comes with popping yogurt boba balls, which I LOVED, you can definitely never have too many boba balls in pandora, they are in everything!

We also tried a dessert in Satuli Canteen, which was their chocolate cake. It's surrounded by a crunchy cookie layer and topped with banana cream, yum! It was more of a mousse texture than a cake, and is very rich but delicious too! It's definitely got more of a dark chocolate flavour than milk, so if you don't like that I would give this one a miss!

Of course we had to try one of the quirky drinks to go along with our meal, we chose the Pandoran sunrise. This one is a mix of tropical juices and melon powerade, the Americans are obsessed with their poweraid, haha! It's actually not as sweet as it looks, it was nice but it's probably not something I would go for again but only because their are better drinks available!

My favourite drink in Pandora has to be the Night Blossom, which you can get from the Pongu Pongu drink stand, the queue is always pretty long because it's so popular but it's definitely worth the wait. It's a frozen slush drink flavoured with pear, limeade and apple topped with a layer of popping passion fruit boba. It's such a sweet refreshing drink, and I 100% recommend trying it if your in the park, we had so many over the two weeks of our trip, it's the perfect drink for cooling down in the hot Florida sun!

Also how visually pleasing is it, most instagramable drink ever? I wish we had something like this in the UK, I can't wait for our next trip already to try it again!

Overall, as you can tell by my post I absolutely love Pandora and can't wait to go back on my next trip, whenever that may be. In my eyes its a perfect addition to the park, and was definitly needed to boost the hype of animal kingdom - I think everything is so well done and thought out from the theming, to even the food. What is your verdict on Pandora, if you've been I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments!
